Global web presence for a green tech giant
In just 4 months, Fortescue launched a new global web presence and Digital experience Platform.

Client
Fortescue
CHALLENGES
Fortescues is an Australian global metals, green energy and technology company. As one of the most ambitious heavy industry player in the world, Fortescue is also setting industry standards with a real zero terrestrial emissions plan (no offsets) by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2) and a plan to eliminate its Scope 3 emissions by 2040.
But Fortescues ambition of one single global brand was inhibited by a lack of shared brand experience with multiple redundant local implementations, as well as no B2B personalization and structured analytics of the effect of the digital presence.
INSIGHTS
Fortescues web ecosystem lacked technical maturity in backend engineering and architecture, as well as a strong shared design system for web experiences. The initial insights pointed towards a strong potential value by replacing duplicate web- and content platforms with a centralizes Digital Experience Platform. This would also allow for stronger content personalisation and journey management/optimisation based on first-party data.
SOLUTION
Fortescues new global web ecosystem is a Sitecore XM Cloud implementation that enables Fortescues team to work efficiently with content creation, personalization and marketing across all markets in one simple user experience. The web ecosystem is a Multi-lingual experience. And the frontend is a fast, headless architecture with strong search engine optimization and consistent brand design – from the global experience to the smallest font face.
The new web ecosystem was created in an effective development process, using a number of accelerators;
- Design boilerplate with predefined modules and AI-fuelled continued design development in Storybook
- CMS boilerplate that allows for fast launch of new websites within a predefined infrastructure
- Personalization functionality built-in
- On-site cooperation between the Fortecue Product Owner and the design & development team.
RESULTS
By investing in a strong senior team, Fortecue and Forte Advice managed to design, develop and launch a new global web platform in just 4 months. The new platform enables Fortescues digital team to launch new brand content & marketing sites by reusing the headless design system across multiple websites. This significantly reduces the time-to-market for new websites and global content as well as creating a coherent web experience across all Fortescues market regions.
